Historical examination of the development of radio drama, 1930 to 1960, with an emphasis on the adventures, soaps, and mystery serials. How demographics influenced network schedules will be discussed. Audio copies of these programs will illustrate their strengths and weaknesses.
Our presenter is Jack French, acclaimed radio researcher and historian, whose honors include the Agatha Award for Best Non-Fiction for his book Private Eyelashes: Radio’s Lady Detectives. He is the editor of Radio Recall and was inducted into the “Radio Once More” Hall of Fame in 2011.
